Kitsune are basically fox spirits or sometimes known as "kami" a Japanese word meaning awe-inspiring thing. Although that's not quite limited to kitsune, as it could be a relic or something otherwise special.
They have been known to appear as a fox with one or more tails, or as a human with fox ears and tails. Due to the fact a kitsune cannot hide their tails they usually wear garments that will cover them. Some also would envision them as an anthromorphic fox with many tails, or a human/fox hybrid if you will. Kitsune are usually recognized by having more than one tail, yet what form they can take is ultimately up to them.
Kitsune are belived to also be gifted with special abilities such as magic, transformation, and many other inate abilities. I will list and explain this in the Kitsune Abilities section.
They have shown up in many legends as tricksters yet they also help people too. Kitsune are considered "amoral", and are relatively neutral in the scheme of things. I will explain more of this in Kitsune Behavior.
